Donate to a place that is not goodwill/salvation army. I don't like them reselling the clothes I donate. Find a smaller place to donate to, perhaps a local shelter, small thrift stores that are known to contribute to certain causes.

I give mine to a local church. It bothers me that the Salvation Army employees in my local town go through all the clothes and take the good stuff before people who really need it can get to it...

Donate them.

Not sure about your neighborhood but my neighborhood supermarkets usually have a dumpster where you can donate your clothes.

My dress clothes get sold in yard sales. Anything that doesn't sell gets donated to the United Way or similar organizations.

Non-dress clothes become yard work clothes. They keep this status until they are no longer wearable.

donate anything that is still wearable (i usually get rid of clothing if it doesn't fit me anymore). I avoid goodwill, they are picky bastards. I try for salvation army if I can. I'd like to find a place that actually goes and gives it out to homeless shelters or something like that.

If they are clean and in good shape, I donate them to the Salvation Army.

First, I like helping people in my community. Can you imagine the joy of a poorer person getting like an A&F shirt for $3 and getting to wear it to their school?

Second, it's a tax writeoff. Win win situation.

I'm so damn sentimental, I have trouble getting rid of some old stuff at times.

The wife's got a bag of shirts that I haven't worn in three years or so ready to go to charity and I have refrain from looking in the bag. If I do, I might see some old rag that I used to go clubbing in or a golf shirt from a memorable tournament, and I won't want to let 'em go.

So yeah - she has to get rid of them for me, because I can't do it myself.

Salvation army so they can send my clothes back to the country where they were made.

Donate them to various charities around town. While my wife doesn't like to see someone dressed in her old clothes, I think it is cool that someone will truly appreciate things we don't need anymore. So much better than chucking.

I put them in a garage sale. If they don't sell, I drop them off at a local shelter.
