What do you do with a bad cpu?

Okay i got an amd duron 1gig from some guy in anandtech. He told me there may be some problems with it so he sold it cheap and i took the chance. It doesnt work, is there any way i can get amd to say...fix it up for me?
Or am i stuck?

if it wasn't retail and doesn't have the warranty, or a similar from an oem, then the only thing you can do is make a keychain :) sorry if this isn't what you were hoping for!

Seriously though, did the seller say it was *dead*? If not, what sort of ~problems~ did he/she say?

Well basically he said that he got it new and couldnt get it to start up. He got it OEM so it wasn't fiddled with, he said he thought i was probably dead and that he was selling it so that maybe someone else could get it to work.

ebay is so cut throat it is unbelieveable, that is why I came here, people will rip you off and not think twice about it, I even had one get me banned from ebay because they claimed I didn't pay, and ebay didn't even ask for my side of the story, but on ethical grounds I would just make a keychain, and remember that next time to buy stuff known to be working.

man i wouldn't sell anything broken. That's low as hell for a couple of bucks. I'd feel like a lawyer or something..."I wrote in 0.5 font on the lower right corner that it was broken!" :)
