It's not a matter of post whoring. It's the shame of knowing you fucked up and that your caretakers who love and look after you will have your gross misconduct recorded forever against you. Remember the first time you got detention in elementary school and you cried your eyes out and when your parents told you "It's not that big of a deal, just a minor infraction, just don't do it again" and feeling unworthy you beat yourself in the privacy of your bedroom? It's like that.
