What do you do when you are having trouble sleeping?

I hate it when I will get into bed at a good time, and then end up not falling asleep for atleast 2-3 hours. This has been happening lately. BESIDES pills, what do you normally do when you are having trouble? Are there certain food that made you sleepy?

ALSO, is it true that going on the computer and watching TV before you go to bed make it harder to sleep?

I generally toss and turn and end up worse for the wear. Get a prescription for something... lunesta, ambien, etc.

Yes, it is true that watching TV or a computer monitor strains your eyes and makes it harder to fall asleep. However, I find that if I can't get to sleep and I watch TVwith all the lights off, it helps quite a bit. I also read sometimes which helps.

those are pills you knob!

Well, i try to fall asleep, like actually try, breath slower, make sure you close your eyes, and tell your mind to stfu!
Maybe try having a wank or two. See whats keeping me up, if im stressing about something I try to do something to fix that.

Sometimes I might out on a bob dylan cd on really low to help relax me.

And if all those dont work, I say screw it, and watch a movie, tv, or go on the internet, and suck it up the next morning with loads of coffee.

Everything you said was good about telling your mind to STFU. I don't know about the "have a wank or two" part....

Usually I try to get as warm as possible.

That's another thing. I have such a HARD time getting comfortable and not moving when I'm hot at night. I hate the heat. I have a fan on me ALL year long, even winter. But do you think that it helps you sleep if you aren't cold? Or is it just different for everyone.

Tylenol PM, FTW

But wouldn't your body get reliant on it, so it would be harder to sleep without it?

I don't take it everyday. When I need it, I take 1/2 of 1. It works well enough for me to relax and go to sleep. Plus, I don't wake up with a drugged up feeling.
