so, I was the designated DB on new year's eve, and after dropping my last friend off at her house, start driving back to my place.

about 3 blocks up the road from my friend's place, I hit an intersection with a traffic light and this lady jumps out into the road in front of my car, forcing me to stop. she pounds on my window till I roll it down, at which point she totally starts like trying to get me involved with her drama. she was having a fight with her boyfriend, needs a cab to get home, doesn't have a cellphone, can't find an open store, etc, etc... after about 5 minutes of this, some guy comes up (presumably her boyfriend), pulls her off of my car (to which she responds by like screaming), and then tells me that he's just trying to get her home safely. she's just yelling like "don't leave me alone with this guy."

they were both obviously drunk and had their hands inside my car (preventing me from driving off and making me feel pretty well threatened). eventually another car drove up and they got them involved with the drama, at which point I drove off, went up a couple blocks to get out of their general vicinity, and pulled over to call 911, but no f'ing answer from 911.

so what the hell do you do in a situation like that?

I just drove home and felt like I should have done something different the whole time, but I wasn't about to let some crazy drunk chick in my car.

I mean, she wasn't even hot... she was like 40, though I totally might have given the bf a ride ;)

I dunno, depends on how nice the neighborhood is. She could be a con artist...or she could really be someone who needs help. It'd really depend on how I sense the situation.

Help her. It doesn't take much to give her a ride to the police station (which is where I would take her to, not her house). A similar situation happened to me when we heard a bunch of screams at the neighbor's house and me and my three roommates walked up to the small apartment complex's parking lot to see what was happening. A girl runs out and says something like 'Get me out of here, he is crazy' and we take her inside our house. She is crying and whatnot and we just call the cops, apparently she had a restraining order and he'd come back and been violent. Gave a statement to the cops and they were on their way.

I generally say "avoid drama". Especially if its a total stranger.
You need look no further than Hollywood to see why.

How many movies have 1 or more crazy people doing something dangerous and then some poor schmuck drives by to see what the commotion is? 30 seconds later he's dead or beaten & carjacked.

Yes, I know movies arent real, but if you ask a cop he would probably give you the same advice.
Leave, then get help.

EDIT:
Farang posted before me.

I should make this clear: GET HELP! Someone might actually need it. But dont intervene yourself.
You dont know if you are dealing with assholes or psychos and its better to let the cops decide.

I should also add that if the boyfriend tries to be confrontational with you, or you helping her involves fighting with the boyfriend, then just get away and call the cops immediately. In my situation the three of us were intimidating enough that the guy more or less pleaded 'Its not your problem, just don't worry about it' and never came within 20 feet or so of us. Had he acted confrontational I would've returned to my house and called the police.

the part where you rolled down your window was the point where you call the police instead of rolling down your window

I probably would have rolled down my window like you did, then quickly realized it was a mistake, made up some lame excuse, then get the hell out of there.

i had a similar situation before.

some lady was preventing me from going through, she came to my window (driver's window) and went blah blah blah. i told her i'm deaf and i even signed. she freaked out and left to stop another car. i had no idea if she was drunk nor was she lost.

i have assumed my signs were gang-related. :p

I agree that rolling up the window was a mistake. I would've gotten out of the car and kicked her ass with words for pounding on my car.

i worked at a convenience store once, one night this pretty, thin, black girl comes in to the store, im just kinda staring at her waiting to see what she's doing because she looks kind of dazed, or confused or something... well after a moment this big dude comes in GRABS her by the neck and pretty much throws her through the door, he then runs out after her punches her a couple times while she's trying to get up off the parking lot, and then drags her by her hair into the van they came in... by this time i was already on the line with 911 and was trying to get there licence plate (then ended up not even having plates on the van wtf)

so the big dude sees me on the phone, and wants to get confrontational with me (im out in the parking lot now watching everything) im calling him names and telling him to bring it on and the lady on the phone is telling not to fight the guy if he trys to, but try to keep them there...

he eventually jumps in the van and they take off, another car is also following them, which was strange.... couple mins later i see cops with lights on going in every direction looking for them..

I never seem to get help when I need it, so I'd probably pass the favour.

my sister let some guy in her car... well, she had the passenger door unlocked and he jumped in! he told her to "follow that car". apparently it was his car that he was asking her to follow and the person driving it had stolen it.

only my sister would have this happen to her.

It would have to a decision made at the moment. I'm almost certain though, that I would not get involved, and just call 911. But you never know; sometimes you just know that someone needs your help and you don;t have a choice.

A few months ago, I was with a buddy in Federal Hill, Baltimore. It's a well known party area of Baltimore with plenty of bars; young drunks all over the place are not uncommon at all. It was about 1am, and as my friend and I are leaving a lounge, some young drunk girl stumbles into us. She creaming that she needs our cell phone to call someone, and she's a bit distraught. My friend and I just ignored her and kept going. Even if she really did need our help, I just did not want to get involved with her sh!t. Now if her life was in danger, then I might have to help. But even then, it depends on the situation.

Hypothetically, if I am out with my fiancee, or my kids (when I have some), and we see someone being attacked or robbed, I do not think I would help them. That would put my family in danger.
