Patent Attorney
185k+ Bonuses (anywhere from 20-40k typically)

If I went to work for a big firm I could make at least 40% more, but I am happy where I am and I like spending time with my family. Let some other idiot rot away 16 hours a day at a desk. I have better things to do.

My kid, 8th grade, wants to be an engineer and has the brains to do so(Thanks to his Mom). His literacy scores are well above his math (Thanks to his Grandma). I'll send him your way when he's graduated college so you can have an engineer that can write. Thank me...:D

Little snot made a 74 on a algebra 1 section test(30% of his total grade). Brought his average from an A to a 87. Electronic reduction ensued.:D Looked up the grades today, twit made a 105 on the chapter test, teacher dropped the lowest section test so he's at 95.5 average. Why am I smiling and frowning at the same time?:\

I work online as a SEO specialist, web designer, content writer, coder for a small startup company from the UK. The guys are ultra crazy and cool and I love my job. I can work WHEN I want to, don't need to leave the house...my own hours etc. Best job I ever had.

I make little, but it's enough to pay bills and to live. (We live/moved to Spain).
We're living super cheap (€300 rent here, fully furnitured apt with pool), groceries, pharmacy etc. here is also super cheap. €15 gets you like three full bags of groceries, it's crazy.

That sounds awesome and like something I would do if I could find that niche.

SysAdmin for a home builder and I make 65k. Love every minute of it because I get to work with so many different technologies and keep us up to date with new tech. I also get to manage the environment and unofficially have 4 (soon to be 5) guys reporting to me (manager training).

Something really romantic about this post. I like this reply the most in this thread for some reason. Where in Spain? It can't be Barcelona nor its Catalonia region.

I work for the gubment, I make ~32,400 a year. Not a lot of throw around cash, but things like free insurance and housing kind of make up for it. Sometimes I wish I had been a Doctor. You guys make me feel inadequate :(

Out of curiosity, can you not sit and work a crane or is sitting the problem? Or, because I have no clue, working a crane is more about sitting?

Sitting is a problem (I can sit for 20-30 minutes at a time...MAX), lifting is a problem (Dr. set a 15 lb. max), standing is a problem (10-15 minutes), walking is a problem, climbing is a problem...

Fuck it...just kill me now.

My total in 2015 will be about ~125k. My salary is right around 90k. My degree is nuclear engineering, but I'm currently managing the procurement of natural gas, petcoke, and other industrial fuels for our power plants, as well as planning coal deliveries.

But yeah, mark me down in the low-COL and thrilled about it camp.

Attorney - opened my own firm last August so impossible to say how much I make per year (I suspect it can vary by a couple hundred thousand dollars year to year). Right now I'm just trying to keep the lights on and the mortgage paid.

When I left DC I was making about $250k in salary - took a big haircut when we moved to Florida but was still doing quite well in terms of salary. With a little luck I'll be making more than at either prior firm.

I'm in this ballpark, also in a super low COL area (not far from rcpratt if I remember correctly - near AA right?)

I did a business one year that brought in about $130k on top of my 9-5, but that went to the wayside the following year. I ended up loving the change. With a business, I thought about it all the time. With an OK salary, the ability to go home and not think about anything until the next day, it is worth just coasting... for now.

Let's be honest for anonymity's sake and get a feel for ATOT.

Let's get the dumb 250K/yr jokes out of the way. I'll start as a gesture of good will- IT PM, 120K. I actually liked being a contractor when I was pulling more ($158K~). I'm not getting any younger and I feel like I'm just a middle of a pack and never made anything BIG of myself. :(

Career related threads actually end up having great responses and input in ATOT. I hope this turns into one as well.

You exceeded the SS earnings cap, you freeloader!

I do a blend of electronics repair, tech support, IT, customer service, sales and whatever else needs to get done.

I'm comfortably in the middle class, which for my area means I make more than most.

I do healthcare application support. It's a wide range of stuff from project managing installs and upgrades, to break/fix stuff, to installing servers, and just about any other thing that needs to be addressed.

62k a year. On call every third week and it's a life sucking drain on me. Salaried and don't get paid extra for call hours.

Up shot is nice benefits. Great 401k match and free higher education for me and my kids. There's some also nice fringe benefits that come with the employer that are not possible to get other places.

That's the thing that makes my company so great to work for. We can travel basically whenever we want to. We fly on private planes, stay in very nice hotels, eat like kings. Also since we are very small, we are treated like people and not employees. There are a lot of us that get whatever tech toys we want since the owner is a nerd. High end laptops, tablets, phones, computers, whatever. Buy the best or don't buy anything.

Internet Surf Engineer - $~80k, depending on if I can stomach sitting in my desk for more than 40 hours a week.
