I used to do this all day, but then my boss decided to move me to a desk that is directly behind his with our backs to each other. Now he can just turn back and see what I'm doing. However, Alt+tab keeps him at bay. Besides, I use the George Costanza tip: "Always look frustrated and mad, and everyone will think you're really busy".
