What do you do at work when bored, besides nef?

I like my job and I am grateful to have it, and I do not waste my employer's money. If I have the opportunity to be bored and its not lunch or break, something is wrong. There is always something that needs to be done.

I sit at my desk pretending to do work, when i'm not. I would say in an acutal week, I do about 15-minutes of real work.

My two civilian jobs after the Navy kept me busy every minute of the work day. Only time I got a break was with a full bladder.

Depends on how motivated I am. I will either work through a tutorial, read on new features of various software, update my blog, or whatever to further my career that may benefit the company. If I'm really lazy, I will check ATOT, Dailytech, Engadget, some other forums or harass my subordinates.

I've been ridiculously busy the last couple of months, but when I can spare a couple of minutes, I typically surf over to CareerBuilder to see if anything better is out there.

Yeah can't say I've ever had the time to nef at work, other than the engineering job where I would take a few minute time out for my sanitys sake. I guess when I worked autobody we would have some slow periods, but then you just went home or worked on a project of your own since you don't get paid if you don't actually accomplish anything.

I'll nef. When MS Access is crunching a database, I don't have the cpu cycles to do much else. Thankfully, the browser doesn't need much.

I always have work to do, but If I find myself falling asleep, I'll work on my book or do some online planning/shopping for a computer build.

Go hunting for people with warrants, or track down some of the known drug users in town, or search the lots for stolen cars. After 4am...eat lunch, write any reports, then surf wikipedia for random junk.

When things are running well, there isn't much to do at work. So, I do a lot of reading. I try to keep it IT or technology related, just so I don't feel guilty.

When something does go wrong or get a phone call for assistance, I'll get irritated about being bothered...don't know why, but afterwards I'll chastise myself for feeling that way because that's what I'm there to do.

I just thought of another one. Yesterday I googled around if cold air intakes for cars are a scam or not. I also checked out the price of a turbocharger and a supercharger for a corolla. How much a used tent trailer costs. How much a new motorhome costs (holy shit like $100k). How often automatic transmissions in the Ford Fiesta fail (very very often). How many amp hours a category n35 battery typically has. How much a high output corolla alternator costs. Tire size vs tire price. I made an excel sheet showing the gear ratios of several compact cars (the Civic Si gears are the closest together). Also made an excel sheet of horsepower vs EPA estimated city gas mileage.
