What do you collect? And how do you store these collections?

So far... i sorta collect 4 things.

First of all, i keep all my used and empty altoid tins. Im up to around.... 50 or so. Its a decent stack inside my entertainment center behind glass. Its probably my most known trait. Someone thinks altoids.. and they think Bob.. I ALWAYS have a tin on me. I also have a few cavities because of them.

I also have around 35 bent spoons that i keep in a one number combination locker from various restaurants.

3rd Collection being a bouncy pool ball collection that taco bell sells. Its in a fancy red clothed to-go chinese box with a nice snap. These are miniature pool balls ( i have the entire set of balls.. almost two.. plus many duplicates )

The last item that i've decided to collect is shot glasses. So far.. i have two. Weak sauce... but everywhere i go for NOW on for the rest of my life, i'll buy one. That'll get real big. Should be fun. I really like my treasure island pirate shot glass. It is really like a 6 shooter. Now thats a fun shot glass.. put it all away once. Cant wait to use it more in college.

Now... what do you collect? :D

btw, yes i know im a frickin weirdo.. but hey.. thats me

I collect beer bottles. I keep them on a shelf in my garage untill it's full. Then I cash in on them at the bottle recycling center.

btw, when i get to school i'll collect empty booze bottles too

edit - i guess pc parts might count.. but only if you specificly have older/different stuff.. i got all kinds of old equipment.. working and running equipment too

I collect pins. I have about 200 pins from everywhere I go. I also have about 16 zippo lighters, even though I don't smoke. Most of the lighters are from Hard Rock Cafe. My cousin gave me a Billy Beer can from his can collection. That's about it.

Used to collect comics. Have about 5000 in bags w/boards in boxes in the basement.

Now I collect TV series on DVD or SVCD.

Have:
Twin Peaks Season 1
Simpsons Season 1
X-Files Season 1
Babylon 5 Season 1
Star Trek Enterprise Season 1
Farscape Season 1

Want to pick up Star Trek TNG too... but $ you know.

Nothing beats being able to watch a show without commercials.

I collect petrified wood that I collect here in Colorado as well as some fossils. I store them in boxes, on shelves and under/next to my desk.

I collect 1/48th scale Aircraft models. My largest is a Revell B1-B that I have yet to tackle.

I also collect "old" PCs (such as Commodores and the like) and old video game systems. I try to get ones in original boxes if possible. Some are even brand new and never opened, but several years old.

My dad used to build those like nuts.. at one point during his 20's he had over 30 high detailed models that he made hangin all over. He even had an airbrush for the camo.

Can't do it... I managed a comic store for 5 years.. I know how much they screw you when you try and sell them...:)

Besides I'm pretty fond of them and do occasionally go through them and enjoy it... I'll wait another 30 years and think about it...

Only problem is the bags and boards will go acidic in about 5 years at which point I should change them all.... Can you imagine rebagging 5000 comics :/

i collect casino chips believe it or not (strange hobby for an 18 year old, i know). they make binder pages with 2x2 squares for large coins, but they work quite nicely for standard size chips.

my dad collects beer bottles (and some cans) from all over the world. in our house we have a game room/den type room that has a single shelf all the way around the top. he keeps the cool/exotic/rare ones on that shelf, and the rest on a bookshelf in the room.

I think my dad is what got me into it too. The funny thing is that the last time I built any was about 6-7 years ago, but I still buy them whenever I see something I like. I must have a hundred or so by now.

Big collection of comics as well. Acetate free boards and mylar bags, and yes I have an attatchment to them and intend to pass them on to my son when he is old enough to comprehend their value and regard them as such ;) I estimate by the time he is 20 some will be worth 1000'$ and He can do with them as he pleases.

Why collect things that you cant use? Like poker chips - you going to invite people over to look through your poker chip binder? I don't get it. Or altoids tins... they're all the same, why collect a bunch of identical things? You might as well jsut bulk order a box of 500 tins of altoids and call it a collection.

I don't collect anything. I really try to keep my space free of useless decorative crap. I have very few decorative things.
