I'm still trying to decide what to get. Right now I only have 2 lenses, though I expect to have 3-4 eventually. I think I will get a backpack case, but it seems like too much baggage right now, considering I only have a couple lenses.
Would you recommend getting something more portable and having 2 cases eventually? If so, what would you recommend in a more portable case? A holster?

A backpack is nice for moving from site to site. But I find it very inconvenient when you're carrying multiple lenses and want to switch lenses quickly. Which is why I have my sling.
Do you plan on carrying everything all the time? If not, I'd say get two bags. You could try an over the shoulder bag like crumplers, which I like in looks, since it doesn't look like a camera bag.

actually, has anyone used both the Tamrac Velocity 7 or 9 and a Lowepro Sling 200AW? Could you comment on both of them from your POV?
This is now my new bag, direct from the halls of ZOXXO. I used it on a hike last Sunday, and I enjoyed the comfort of it. Never once had any issues with discomfort or it getting in the way. Has plenty of room, especially for the meager amount that I haveOriginally posted by: ZOXXO
I have the Lowepro Micro Trekker200
It can hold a surprising amount of gear and is small enough to pack around like a bag once reaching your destination. However I find it's short height to be uncomfortable when actually strapped on my back. The bottom strap buckles above my navel.
