Mom's side: Grandmother (now mostly shortened to Gram) and Granddad
Dad's side: Mimi and... well, he died before I was born so nothing really fits. Dad refers to him as "Pa" when talking to us but I generally call him Merv, his first name, when talking about him.

What do you call your parents' folks?

grandma and grandpa when they were alive.

Only one of my grandparents is still alive. So did you call your mom's side and dad's side the same names?

Moms dad: Papa (when he was alive)
Moms mom: grandma (when she was alive)
Dads mom: Grannie
Dads dad died before I was born.

These are just what I was brought up on.

My grandfather (granddad) died in 1981 at 87 years old, my grandmother, (grandma) died in 1998 days before her 98th b-day.

My grandkids call me "Poppa" and my wife is grandma.
