I think it would be even better when said in your 'proper' English accent, than in my Amurrikan one. 😀 As in "I shall retire to the Library" :awe:

That will definitely keep my amused, particularly if I ever again use a toilet in America. 😀

lav·a·to·rynoun /ˈlavəˌtôrē/
lavatories, plural

  1. A room orcompartment with a toilet and washbasin; a bathroom
  2. A sink or washbasin in a bathroom
  3. A flush toilet

Have you been checked for OCD to add to the list of your other maladies? I've never seen anyone (other than TridenT) respond to EVERY post in a thread before.

Yep, 19 post on 60 of the responses in this thread alone..... 🙄
Lifer/loser status coming soon, only after 6 months.

If in a home it's a bathroom. If it's a place of business or public area I'll ask for the restroom.

This. Restroom is the more proper name for it.

Also, 3/4 of my bathrooms at home have bath tubs/showers in them, so I find it valid.

Is it? I've always thought Lavatory as the proper name, and I find restroom somewhat confusing, I don't go there for a rest...

I think lavatory is more old English. It hasn't been used in mainstream terms for quite some time here.

If you asked 10 random Americans where the lavatory was, I'd say at least 8 would look at you funny.
