the original envelope was ripped open and was inside this one.....

with nothing inside the original envelope
someone had stole what was inside.........

on the envelope the guy had wrote what was in the envelope and I got a empty envelope

the special envelope on the back has an apology from the usps saying my mail was damaged and all that

if it wasn't insured, let the seller know and see what they will do
depending on who the seller is/where you bought it, they might send you another or refund you the money

if they don't do anything, don't buy anything from them again (Do Not Trade List - DNTL)

its the seller's responsibility to get you your goods

I guess things happen

I am glad it was just a 9 dollar item
instead of a 200 dollar blank check

The seller is responsible to get the item to your house. If he took a chance on regular delivery without boxing it up good, then it's his loss. He now has a beef with the post office.

I disagree. It is the buyers responsibility to get insurance, not the seller. If the buyer doesnt pay extra for it, then he is out of luck. THat is my thoughts. When i buy something under $20, i usually dont even bother with insurance, though. I figure anything under ythat price just isnt worth it. When i sell stuff, i give the option for insurance for $1.10 extra.

It's always been my understanding that insurance was only to cover the sellers losses. The buyers only responsibility is to pay for the product, not insure against its damage or loss.
I bought a case from a vendor. UPS lost the case in transit. "I" didn't have to eat the loss, the vendor did. He filed a claim for the loss and promptly sent me another case. Him being "made whole" is between him and UPS... not me.
I see the same standard for individual transactions.

Many a comment in the For Sale/Trade forum echos this thought.

ai42 - "BTW it is the seller's responsibility to get the promised item to you and if it is a postal mistake then the seller must claim their insurance for the item."
Oakenfold - "IMO it's the sellers obligation to get your purchase to you in good working order, none of this paying for insurance or paying extra for DC junk."
Log1c - "bump b/c insurance+deliv. confirmation is a SELLER'S bestfriend, not a buyer's."
ripthesystem - "It seems to be the common consensus that it is the Sellers responsibility to make sure the buyer gets what he/she paid for.. I've always considered this to be the case when I've been the one selling"
virtuamike - "It's his responsibility to make sure the speakers get to you. You paid for them."
ZZZZZZ - "The seller the one who could claim the insurance."
Tates - "No insurance = self insured." "Unless you can prove otherwise, the benefit of the doubt goes to the buyer. Refund is in order."
FoBoT - "i usually don't insure/use tracking for stuff under ~$20 to $35" "i just sent a CPU WITH insurance, that i sold for only $25 because it is a unique item, if i had to replace it, it would probably cost a lot more , so i insured it for $50"
Oakenfold - "I insure most everything I ship, the only reason I don't is if for some reason i forget to insure it(doh)."
DaiShan - "I normally insure for the approximate value that it would take to replace the item if the buyer wanted me too"
hollowman - "Seller should get the item to buyer no matter what. Yes, sometimes package can be lost during shipping. but that's what insurance is for!! i realize many many members here do not have insurance on their package. insurance is for seller's benefit"
And finally...
Rainguy - "If you sell here at AT with a shipped price and do not include insurance in that shipped price, you will be 100% responsible for reimbursing the buyer if the item is lost or damaged."
