I really wanted to get a ddr2 800 ram, but i figured i could overclock a ddr2 667 ram with 4-4-4-12 ram to a ddr2 800 with 5-5-5-15 timings, is this possible? Im also planning on using this to OC an amd am2 x2 3800 to hopefully atleast 2.6ghz.

heres the ram im talking about..

im planning on getting a motherboard with a standard ddr2 800 ram slot, will a ddr2 667 still work on it? MoBo link

you SHOULD be able to, but again, nothing is guaranteed. I had some cheap k-byte 512MB stick of PC2-4300 and it OC'd to 800MHz, but i've heard other people who haven't had such good results. It's a risk you have to decide if you're willing to take. Also, what's the smallest memory divider you can use? if you can't hit DDR-800, just run a 533MHz divider or something.

i think you should be able to find decent DDR2-800 for around $160 though. I bought some OCZ DDR2-800 at 4-5-4-12 timings for like $150 AR a few weeks back. it had issues with my mobo, but i haven't heard of any issues with socket AM2. patriot and corsair also have similarly priced offerings.
