What do you all think of a Saturn?

I had a 96 SL1, first 85k were great. The last 30k I owned it it started to fall apart.
The new Aura is intriguing though.

I own a Cavalier. It was affordable (I'm a high school student, I don't have much money) it gets really good gas mileage, it's been very reliable, and it came with a whatever-point inspection (new tires, all fluids changed, state inspected) from the SATURN dealer I bought it from. Granted, it's not the fastest or manliest car, but it gets me where I need to go safely and reliably.

If you get a like 2002 4 cylinder saturn or earlier, be prepared to replace the altenator and head gasket.

I have a 99 Saturn and haven't had to replace either item.

I would start with something smaller, such as a Mercury. Once you get experience with that, then you can move onto the gas giants.

I'm not a huge fan... my buddy has a new Ion and loves it to death, but I couldn't ever get used to having the speedo right there in the center. I drove an Echo cross-country (Chicago to Anchorage) that had the same setup and it bugged me the whole time. But yeah, I do like the Sky... that's about it. I'm thinking about picking one up later this month actually. Best time to buy a convertible in Alaska is January! I got $9K off a new Miata that way once.

I have a 98 SL2 that I got from my sister... she drove the thing to death and it is still going strong. I get an average of 35 mpg on the highway when i drive it back to PA for holidays. It is comfortable, reliable, and drinks oil way too quickly. But it does have over 130K miles on it.

My gf's 01 L200 2.2L Ecotec hit almost 60K before she sold it, factory alternator and head gasket. Of course if you knew what you were talking about, you would know pre-2003 models had numerous different engines.

IDK about safely, you'll get eaten if you crash.

I never claimed to know what I was talking about. My car meets the "2002 4 cylinder saturn or earlier" part though. I have a 99 SL2 manual transmission.
