I would never give up my Powerbook for anything (and I've been through quite a few computers), but niceone fella. Enjoy!

As long as you're happy with it, don't worry about what everybody else thinks.

Thanks. The great thing is - I'm not paying for it (well most of it). I have a $2k technology bonus given to me!

AND I found out that we are likely get a $20k raise, retroactive January 1.

Whose pwned now?

🙂

As long as you're happy with it, that's what matters the most.

However ... the brand and price, no comment 🙂

You could have picked up a M170 with a 7800gtx and a better processor for under $2k. I guess if you don't game it doesn't matter and as someone said it's your laptop so it really doesn't matter what we think. If your company lets you keep it after you're done with it that's a great deal whether or not the laptop you bought was...good luck with it.

Core Duo:

This is useless. Let's wait and see what programs actuallly will use this. I don't think I'll suffer with 2ghz at hand.

Paid too much:

really? Please someone show me where I get the same specs for cheaper. And, I will NEVER buy a Dell laptop. In lawschool I saw just how bad the quality of dell laptops where, with every Dell in the class breaking down or crapping out at some point. Those laptops really are the bottom-of-the-barrell in quality.

work: microsoft word.

hobbies: adobe photoshop, elements, other photography tools

music: reason, cubase

Fun: playing MAME, and any cool games I come across. Not into Counterstrike or Doom or any of that stuff. But I'd like the option of playing a game with great graphics if one i liked came around.

Only 1/4 as much memory, smaller and slower hard drive, Intel integrated graphic (oh yeah!) , It lacks gigabit ethernet (it's not using the intel chipset that goes with the t2500?), bluetooth (big loss there) and no built in subwoofer. How do you put a subwoofer into a laptop?

That's because no quality coupons are included in Rossman's config.
I remember when the E1705 first come up, people can get a loaded one with 7800gtx for around 1600.

At the 2k price point, I would have gone with a Fujitsu though.

Be serious, the processor is the only thing this one has going for it, everything else puts it at pony class. The OP's Acer is an excellant laptop, probably better than most of the desktops people have here., mine included. I would not trade mine for it though. But that's just me, I don't like laptops.
