This site is cool, most of you guys are really helpful.

I think, i might change the board?? I reckon i might go the Abit IC7 Max 3.

The system, is designed for stability, as well as performance. It is going to be mainly used for business, but i will play games..

I definitely need the volume, in my drives. Raptors are lightning fast, but to small for my needs at this stage.

I can still exchange parts, within 7 days, so i think i will also change to a Diamond Data 21 CRT Flat screen.

I cant wait to play Doom 3 on this Beast..lol

if you need storage space and still want speed i would get a raptor to run the os off (like the 18gb one) and then pick up an 80 or 120gb 7200 rpm drive for storage and installations (whatever one looks best for you)
some boards may also give you the option of raid which could be fun too

Thanks for your advice.lol

I was debating on getting the Athlon64 3400+, i went for the Intel instead.

Yeah, about the drives i did look at the WD Raptor 10000 rpm 74GB drives. I want a lot of storage, as it will be used for video editing, downloading movies etc.

Just another question guys.

I want to overclock this beast, so I am thinking of getting a nVentiv Prometia Mach II Cooler Unit.

I have never used this type of cooling, i am looking for the Max OC. What do you think would be a realistic overclock??

I went with the Athlon A64 3400+ and spent the difference on a pair of Western Digital 36GB Raptors @10,000 rpm in RAID 0 array. There's no way I would blow $900+ on a P4 EE cpu though. My entire system (upgrade) cost less than that. Apparently money isn't a consideration in your case?

The 64 3400+ is a great CPU.

At this stage though 64bit tech, is really unproven, and doesnt offer a great deal of benefits.

Once 64Bit Windows, is officially released, that will probably change. Intel will have their own 64Bit CPU by then, so its really no great benefit right now.

And you're basing that opinion on???

All the tests I've read indicate that the A64 3400+ is very close in performance or beats the P4 3.2 in 32 bit Windows aps and games (especially games).

I think you seriously just wasted $800 on a cpu alone. I don't want to sound rude but you could have gotten an A64 for half the price with literally no difference in performance.

And it doesn't matter if there's 64 bit apps out for it, it kicks ass on 32 bit apps.

AND you upgraded from a 3.0 @ 3.4? You must have money growing out your orifices.

Got pics?

Surely a guy who spent nearly a grand on a CPU has a digicam (even a cheap one).

This shouldn't even be in this thread but for Nick I well make an exception.Find out what Nick is smoking and make sure that you don't let your kids nere it.This guy is completly wacked out. Here he is talking about P4EE I can get at least 3 CPU's faster than the one you bought. Well Nick I have a P4 2.6 GHz that you can't find 1 to match. I said you can't that doesn't mean there aren't any (P4 2.8 P4 3.0 P4 3.2 P4EE 3.2 P4EE 3.4 ) Allof these Nick can be overclocked to best anything that AMD has to offer............. Please Nick get off the drugs

Zinn2b, I think you are the one that needs to come off the drugs... And I am not responding again to this thread, since I read your last drug induced thread...

Whats that in $US ? if its close to $500 US, I think you made an OK choice(not what I would have done, but...), regardless of my other post (that you will see) Thats half price !!!!!!

Soooo many haters

ok

yeah get the abit ic7 max3 a very kickass mobo

If your going for performance a raptor drive really is a necessity ( your computer is only as fast as the weekest link)
I think they have 74 gb WD drives

then add one or two extra 120 gbs ( i got mine for 40 bucks)]

the EE is overpriced, but 500 is a really good price.

Good luck with the system :p

Overpriced processor, don't know about the motherboard. Otherwise I think you have more money than is good for you. Could you send me some?

Hey All.

I dont understand the issue with the 3.2EE, i payed about $300US for it.

Thats a bargain, even the 64 3400+ is way more expensive than that here in Aus.

I think i will get 2 74GB WD Raptors 10000 rpm, in RAID0.

I will then keep the 2 WD 200G 7200 in RAID0 for storage.

I am definitely going to change to the Max3, i read the reviews and it one very fast board.

With my new drives is RAID0 or 5 better. Is error correction of RAID5, going to improve the performance at all??

Yeah, if I was going to go with an Intel system I'd have gone for a 3.2C and an Abit IC7-G Max3 or an Asus P4C800-E Deluxe. MSI just doesn't cut it for a high end system IMO.

Hi All.

I have swapped my MSI 875P Neo board. I ended up getting , after all your good advice Abit IC7-G Max3.

I swapped one of my 200gb WD drives.

I got 2xWD 74GB Raptors 10000 8mg SATA.

I also got a WD 36GB Raptor 10000 8mg drive.

I think this should now complete my system.

Thanks again, everyone for all your help.
