the FDA standards are waay better than what used to happen. "insect fragment" doesnt mean chunky food. we're talking microscopic, and "animal debris" is a fact of life that we are fully equipped to deal with.
a mouse hair that's swept into the grinding vat is far better than a bunch of whole, live rats falling into it and getting minced.

i mean, really, even rat meat ain't that bad if cooked properly. 😱
 
There's a guy at our local downtown Farmers Market who was forced into retirement 3 years ago, and took up making homemade sausages to make ends meet. His sausages are a big hit, and he sells out every weekend. He says if business continues to do as well as it has, he will earn more money selling homemade sausages than he made as an accountant.
