I think Bush is within his rights to nominate whoever he wants, since he is the president.
But I can't blame the Democrats for calling his "Uniter not divider" bluff.
If you nominate a divisive right wing guy like Ashcroft, you can't expect any bipartisanship or unity behind him.
So Bush is within his rights at nominating Ashcroft, and the Democrats have a right to oppose his nomination. They are just representing their constituents. They will accept him if he wins the post, but they are certainly not required to vote for him.

Holy cow, I leave for a little while....... Ha-ha! I think its funny that I am being called a troll again, hell that was the first thing I was called when I started posting in OT (UBB), then its was "Redneck" (which led to me replacing my picture at the member gallery), then pinko (personal favorite), anarchist and a$$hole, I am all and proud of it.

Eowyn,

<< Trolling has little to do with one's ideology. A troll is characterized by the contemptuous terms in which he phrases his opinions and the vulgar insults to which he resorts when cornered. >>

Had you noticed that those names were directed at crimson-child, I did my best to answer those with whom I have debated for 2 years now with respect or at least in a manner that they expect from me, so since you and your supreme intelect have "cornered" me, eat shlt fvck wad. :)

Tom,
You are right (pun intended ;)) there is alot of bickering and namecalling but we do all come together on some issues and have good intentions. I guess the "newbies" miss that point.

<< Would you be for someone that hid their beliefs and yet let those same beliefs influence his decisions? >>

No I would not, and my point is valid, Ashcroft IMO can not read the law without interjecting his own values and beliefs which is what my point about the outgoing amazon. ;)

Red,
UH.....thanks? :Q Yes most people who see a thread with that title posted by me will just walk away unless their in the mood, newbies get sucked in everytime and depending on who "hates shuxclams" this week will post something brilliant like crimson-turd did. If it isnt Thorn, or DanC and a host of others a new guy comes in to replace them, they tire so quickly. :D

Well what now? ;)

Shux - You're a troll who posts these thread because you likes to see people fight. This is just a rehash of the same topic you like to throw out all the time.

Just read your last post and wanted to be sure that I said that.

As for Ashcroft, I would rather have someone who stands up for what they believe in as Attorney General than someone who does not. All I have heard is whining that some groups feel he will not spend as much time strongly enforcing the laws they think are important. They can't point to anything that Ashcroft has done to support their accusations, all they can do is point out that he has been true to his conservative beliefs. Since conservative genarally means supporting law and order and many law enforcement groups are behind Ashcroft, it seems good enough for me. They lost the election, so they're just going to have to deal with it.

Michael

ps - You can post what you want to, btw. I'm not a mod and it is up to them to decide.

Michael,
Whats your problem? Have I said anything to warrant this from you? We can disagree can't we and further more if you think I am a troll then why the hell do you keep reading and posting in these threads? And why do you keep adding this to every thread you post to of mine?

<< ps - You can post what you want to, btw. I'm not a mod and it is up to them to decide. >>

Like the MODS give a rats ass what you think? Unless I was being really offensive to you or your family or trying to hack/attack your computer then their isnt any real problem with my posts. You have, in the past, presented your ideas in a civil and well thought out manner, what changed? And to rebuke your claim, I do not like to see people fight, cause a good debate/flamewar/heated argument? It's all good IMHO.
