What do Indians find fascinating about America?

Gift certificate to Morton's, Ruth's Chris, Smith & Wollensky's, Capital Grille or The Palm steakhouses? 😀

edit: For the corn and creamed spinach, of course! 😉 Just tell them the creamed spinach is "saag" and they'll eat it up!

I dunno, but the guy at the gas station always talks about wanting to get some from a white chick.

Then he goes on to saying "look at me, they no want me."

Well......we took the land from the Indians a long time ago. I guess their facination is how we got away with it without a MAJOR indian war. The answer is basically that the tribes didn't band together to make one big scalping crew and take us all out.

This is a post for people who read the actual content rather than just the headline.

Don't go with candy, that's just stupid. Get something with an American flag on it. If it's their first visit ever to the States, it may be a big deal for them. If however it isn't then I really don't know what to get.

How about their very own "illegal immigrant" to take? They came here legally, apparently, but so many do not that they can have an illegal to take home and show off. That will be a great thing to have to remember what America is becoming....

Tobasco sauce? Honestly an "I <3 NY" shirt has been made world famous from hollywood movies so that might work. I'm trying to think what the US grown and produces internally but I really can't think of anything. We are a huge export/import. I would say a philly cheese steak but that wouldn't save well. I know we had a couple guys come from Brussels and they had a hayday at the world of coke museum because over there they have like 3 flavors. Maybe a Dr. Pepper? Made and bottled in the country of Texas!

FTW!! We certainly have a surplus of illegals, and sending them home with several would
1) be a nice gesture of international friendship
2) not make a dent in our unending supply
3)Make a few of them India's problem (and see if India is willing to translate EVERYTHING into Spanish for them...

If they drink alcohol get them some quality scotch or wine - foreign liquor is very expensive in India, though I am sure it must be fairly easily available in Delhi. But I think they would probably purchase scotch duty free anyways - most Indians do on international trips 😛 Perhaps you can find a souvenir with an American flag and some trinkets - maybe a currency/coin collection kind of thing. If you really want to wow them, iPod Nanos would be cool, but expensive 🙂

Edit: Or baseballs/caps/mitts/t-shirts - I am sure you can find something that comes in a gift package. Indians don't play baseball, so that would definitely be something very American and very un-Indian and would be relatively inexpensive.

No. 3 would not be a problem, really - we already do most things in 22 different languages and some 3000 dialects 😛

India has its own share of illegals from Bangladesh - perhaps we could swap illegals 😉

 haha...you have never tasted indian food have you...lol

Yes....at least once a week we go to Patel Brothers/ Indian wholesale wharehouse and eat at one of the several Indian restaurants (Aangan, Mirch Masala, South Indian Cafe, etc.).

What was your point again?

Gee thanks, but I'm sure we already have lots of illegal Bangladeshians (?) since we seem to have plenty of illegal "every other group" here...Heck, I'd be surprised if we don't have the largest group of illegal Antarcticoids in the world... 😉

I've received gifts from Indians like clothes, electronics, gold/silver coins.....

how about a proof set of US coins? or a proof silver eagle? they are beautiful, and uniquely from the US.

I'm not suggesting this place, but this is an example:

http://chipmancoins.com/Proof_Silver_Eagle.htm

most local coin stores have them $40ish....non proof, are half that. (Proof means struck twice, and untouched.)

Proof sets are even cheaper, an still look nice:

It would also be a reminder of the year they visited.
