What do I replace this with?

My girlfriends grandfather has an old looking cable modem that drops out whenever somebody calls. They have service in Austin through Time Warner and I guess they get phone and internet through it. I'm not too familiar with these kinds of modems but I'm assuming it needs to be replaced since it looks so damn old.

This is the modem he has

What do I need to replace it with? Or do I need to replace it? The main problem is that it shuts off the internet connection when someone calls.

To satisfy your curiosity the 'date of mfg' is at the bottom right... mm/yy. The one in the link is from 2005.

It isn't Time Warner's modem. They give you the option of providing your own but charge you monthly until you've bought it. Apparently they did not go that route. I need to replace this modem.

Depending on Time warner's policies. They may provide you with a modem free of charge anyways. Shaw where I live give you a modem when you start a new account with them. I have 2 modems, both I recieved within 4 months of each other (as I moved twice in that time.)

Call them and find out if they provide a modem to a new account, or will just give you one. If need be close your account and open a new one (assumin g your not in a contract). Hell you might even end up with 6 months cheaper internet!

I've never paid for a modem with TWC in Austin. They always provide one for free for me and if you have any problems you can just bring it into one of their service centers and they will swap it out on the spot for a different one.

Have your girlfriend call up TWC and tell them that the equipment failure is the last straw and that she's considering an introductory offer from DirecTV. They'll send out a replacement modem and discount his service for a year.
