Hi,hope you can help. One pc runningXP home and connected to Linksys wfg45g/cable. Upstairs Asus A8V WiFi running XP Pro, both connect me to the net. My question is, what do I need to do /buy to get these machines to talk to each other? Any thoughts or suggestions would help me, I'm sure. Many thanks.

Nothing more is required, put them both on the same workgroup and you are set. You can do this by right clicking on My computer, choosing properties, then the network identification tab, click on the properties button choose the radio button for workgroup and set it to Mshome on both. Restart both computers then you can share your files or printers.

They don't need to be in the same workgroup to share files but if you want to use Network Places then it will certainly help there.

Hi, sorry about that empty post. Thanks for your replies. DaiShan, they do have the same workgroup name but, I kept deleting Mshome and using my own group name, is this my problem?

Hey JackMDS, thanks for the link. I've looked at that many times but I never seem to pick up the drift. Although I've built my own computer I'm still in primary school when it comes to computer skills, or even understanding things I'm told or read.
