So many whitty remarks! You are all so funny! If you are getting realm first on raids and are in the top 100..200..1000, then perhaps those comments can apply. Otherwise this game can be extremely casual.

What's sad is their water cooler conversations probably center on who got voted off the island, who threw up eating the balut (or whatever), who got told they suck by Paula Abdul, etc. during the 4-6 hours a night they spend drooling in front of the idiot box and absorbing the adverts by osmosis.

WoW players are going to have to go as underground as the Civil War railroad due to all the stupidity and intolerance disguised as lowbrow wit.

WoW needs RAM for sure. My old ass computer still runs wow fine on all medium at 1900x1200 but lags due to page filing in highly populated areas.

My computer's 4 years old
AMD x2 3800 oced to 3ghz, 1gb ram, 7800gtx etc

Id get at least 2gb, 4gb-6gb depending on if your build is tri or dual channel.

I love how people who don't play WoW or havent since vanilla love to tell people how the cheapest setup can handle it fine.

From someone who still plays WoW, you want a speedy dual core (e5200/PHII X2+) or a lower end quad if its in your budget and 4GB ram. For the GPU WoW does favor nvidia, I'd recommend a 9800GT equivalent to really be happy at high settings. I play at 1080p and max settings (except shadows at 0) and in raids my 4890 gets bogged down to 25 fps. WoW isn't crysis, but it still requires decent hardware (unless you're just at low settings and 1024x768)

A cheap dell with a 4350 will not make you very happy....

What you need to play wow.

1.) A pc that was top of the line in 2002.

2.) A high speed internet connection.

3.) A pulse.

What you don't need.

1.) A social life

2.) A girlfriend/wife.

3.) The will to live.

isn't it about time this BS dies? thank you for telling us what was told a billion times several years ago...

it's only going to "take over your life" if you let it. just because you have no life and willpower doesn't mean other people are exactly like you.

a steady enough source of funds to pay the monthly subscription fee

keep those factors steady and you're good to go.

And here I thought a PC gaming forum would be a good place to get away from idiots like you all. Turns out I was wrong!

You're all a bunch of idiot nerds calling other nerds, "nerds!!!"

If you don't raid, anything will do. If you raid, best hardware + FiOS.
