Which one? Now you can start hitting the thrift shops for the lovely $1 LPs.
Be forewarned that buying new LPs may disappoint you as some of them are poorly mixed. I think a lot of it is because music these days is mixed to sound better in digital format.
>buys a $300 toy because of the 'look'The biggest factor is that it would break the look of the room. I'm not collecting crap. That's for horders.
>buys a $300 toy because of the 'look'
>the technics is crap
Ah ok.

No. You said you're not collecting crap; ergo, you believe the Technics is crap.Wtf. I said the buying the technics due to collection value is crap. Go learn how to read.
Either way. The technics is not for me because it's a direct drive.No. You said you're not collecting crap; ergo, you believe the Technics is crap.
Where did you state that direct drive transmissions were unsuitable for your application?Either way. The technics is not for me because it's a direct drive.
Is that better?
Where did you state that direct drive transmissions were unsuitable for your application?
Cost being irrelevant, are you saying that direct-drive is unsuitable for high-fidelity?The part where I was spending $500 for something. Not for scratching / DJ'ing purposes.

Like those low-fidelity direct-drive cutters they use to master the LPs you play?

The OP is an idiot. He asks us what to look for, apparently he has no clue, then he states that DD TTs are low-fi. I am confused. I have had turntables for decades and the DD being low-fi is new to me.
Okay Mr. I'm old and I know shit.
From what I've read it seems as though that motors introduce noise /hums /ect. By placing them away from the vinyl that reduces this issue.
I'm starting to hate picky ass audiophiles. Almost as bad as android fanboys...![]()
I am no audiophile (but I play one on TV) I just know quality music and equipment. DD TTs and belt TTs are on par. In fact, since the late 80s belt driven TTs were of the cheap quality time. DD TTs have advanced to the point where its not even an issue. Sorry if I upset you but I get mad when people ask for help then say shit like they know better. If you "knew" better WTF ask? Maybe apple will make a TT for you.![]()
. I'd recommend a Pro-Ject turntable as a "not crazy expensive" start:
