not many, why?

ummm how about an advice on what not to bring. If i was you I'd leave your status quo personality at home. Actually burry it in your back yard and set the ground ablaze

You sound like the stereotypical weird kid from down the hall that noone still knows after 2 semesters of school... you probably not want that

This could be along shot, but you could try being outgoing and meet people and stuff. Maybe that would help the "not many" friends thing...

Hey, I was that kid:p Not my fault really though, my TMJ was acting up for the first couple of weeks and I was absolutely cranky, like I was PMSing or something.

TMJ is latin for "I want to kill myself." I would rather have herpes than tmj.

Rather good definition. I've thought about stabbing my jaw joint with an icepick so many times...

I'm quite happy with my personality, thanks.

I'm not certain. I think they're the ones that were built for the olympics.

Those are it. Sweet setup, though it's fairly far from civilization. They probably have the lightrail station up by now so at least it's an easy ride downtown.

Well, you asked what you need to bring. You said you don't need "fun" things. If you aren't bringing anything "fun", what do you plan to do for fun? How DO you enjoy yourself now? Are you even bringing a TV? You know that can be considered a "fun" thing.
I don't watch tv, but I think my roommate's going to have one anyway.

how do I enjoy myself? I listen to music, surf, "chat," wander around stores, play guitar, drive, write, read, watch movies, learn about psychology, clean, sleep, think, go to the library, sit in public places and watch people, design websites, draw, etc.

I never said that I'm not bringing anything fun, but I don't need suggestions in that area.

Get a small Corningware bowl with a lid that seals on the top. You can get them at Walmart. They have a small handle on them so you can hold the bowl even when it's hot. This is the only dish you need in the dorm. Don't bother buying a set of utensils either. One fork and one spoon will do the trick.

Has anyone said a book yet? Things can get boring at times, and a book or two would really help pass the time.

Wow dude, sounds like you are a barrel of laughs.

Word of advice, you might enjoy your personalityless, hermit-like lifestyle now, but chances are you will get bored of it too late in life to change. Mayhaps college should be a time for you to learn how to make friends. I didn't say change your personality, you can make friends without changing who you are. Unless who you are involves nothing but sitting in front of the computer and jacking off.

33, I was a teenager once (spoken like the ancient 21 years of age that I am). I had the same attitude as you going in. My first year sucked as a result (both academically and socially) because I refused to change. Eventually college will come around and force the change on you. As a matter of fact, my first year friends who didn't change moved back home and dropped out. It wasn't drinking or having sex that made the difference (although I experimented with drinking a few times by the end of my 2nd year), it was just being up for something different. The experience will make you a different person whether you want it to or not, so you WILL need to learn more about yourself, because the old info will be out of date.

My best advice: Get an on-campus job that you like. It's what saved my college career. I made new friends, spend time learning and working on things that I enjoy, and it helps me organize my time BIG TIME. The extra $$ sure helps too.

Thinking back to my dorm days... FOR SURE duct tape and basic tools - you will at least need them when you move out to put stuff back together that you've "modified". Crazy glue is also a worthwhile addition to the toolbox. Steal some milk crates (dont be one of those morons that spends $20 on yaffa blocks), they're PERFECT for collegiate organization. A closet organizer with lots of pockets helps. And perhaps most importantly: update your antivirus protection like CRAZY! Dorm networks are the worst when it comes to trying to maintain security and viral cleanliness.

Good luck, and sorry about the lecture!

And what do you find in libraries? BOOKS! :) But why not have one or two in your dorm so you don't have to go to the library to get one?

anyways, look into getting a 3-man slingshot

best suggestion yet

also, a hookah would be a cool investment.... even people that dont smoke seem to love hookahs, and you can smoke them inside because the smell goes away relatively quick.

Its like a big bong, but you smoke legal stuff out of it called sheesha. Its like flavored tobacco with basically no nicotine. Its awesome to have in the center of the room and just have everyone puff, puff, pass. Girls seem to love it too, even ones that are disgusted with cigarettes/cigars.

roommate consideration. when it's 4 am and you're roommate is trying to sleep while you're trying to stay awake to pull an all-nighter, I don't think the roommate will appreciate the music blasting out of your surround-sound speakers.

A) if you live in a dorm it's a bad idea to have something that big that clearly says "I AM A STONER"
B) Only fscking weird people smoke stuff other than weed out of a hookah. The whole idea of smoking something 'for the fun of it' that doesn't get you messed up is just stupid.

thirtythree,
you've got a lot to learn about college my boy. What is your attitude going in? Please elaborate. Do you plan on studying the whole time, and that being your fun? How DO you intend to enjoy yourself? There is something you don't seem to be understanding, and it is a very important thing to know. You will learn as much outside the classroom in college as you do in. I don't mean about subject material, I mean about yourself and life. You might think that you know life and you are independant now, and all that, and I can tell you that you do not. I am in my sophmore year, and I have grown enormously in my first two years at school. You gotta have fun....go out, party(you don't have to drink), meet girls, meet new friends, whatever. If you don't, you will be kicking yourself, because you will not be truly experiencing and learning all that college has to offer.

He's probably Asian or Indian, so it's genetic.
I'm neither.

You didn't respond to my statement.
You don't learn sh!t about life in college.
