thanks. I'm a teenager though so I'm certain that I know plenty about myselfOriginally posted by: kyparrish
thirtythree,
it's good to be focused on your education (as it sounds like), but believe me, you'll learn more about yourself outside of class than inside of class; anyone who has ever gone to college will tell you this...
i'm not saying you need to have a fake id or condoms or whatever, just have an open mind to meeting new people instead of memorizing 300 pages of text a night...
but, to add to your checklist, i'd say a nice big duffle bag to take your dirty clothes to the washer/dryer, and i would consider getting a TV tuner card for your computer, and just not even worrying about taking a TV![]()

I'm not cooking my own food... I have to buy one of their "meal plans."Originally posted by: mugs
I found that I could make some pretty tasty meals with a hot pot (plastic "pot" with built-in heating element), toaster oven, and electric griddle. Hot pot was good for spaghetti (or Ramen if you like that sort of thing), toaster oven made some good garlic bread and just about anything else you can make in a tiny oven, and the griddle made french toast, bacon, etc. Add in my bread machine and I was always filling my dorm with pleasant smells, and I ate well.
is 30,000 students "of any size"?Originally posted by: beer
Most dorms probably won't let you have hot plates/foreman grilles/griddles. That's a big no-no here in the Texas dorms, and this includes coffee makers too. If your school is of any size you probably will be subject to similar fire code rules.

thirtythree,
you've got a lot to learn about college my boy. What is your attitude going in? Please elaborate. Do you plan on studying the whole time, and that being your fun? How DO you intend to enjoy yourself? There is something you don't seem to be understanding, and it is a very important thing to know. You will learn as much outside the classroom in college as you do in. I don't mean about subject material, I mean about yourself and life. You might think that you know life and you are independant now, and all that, and I can tell you that you do not. I am in my sophmore year, and I have grown enormously in my first two years at school. You gotta have fun....go out, party(you don't have to drink), meet girls, meet new friends, whatever. If you don't, you will be kicking yourself, because you will not be truly experiencing and learning all that college has to offer.
I'm neither.Originally posted by: WinkOsmosis

He's probably Asian or Indian, so it's genetic.
