I am getting bombarded with this crap in my hotmail address. WTH do i have to do to stop it? Am i getting all of this cause its hotmail? Is it from the pr0n? I tried blocking but it seems like that only throws chum to the sharks.....
HELP!

In my state, e-mail spam is prosecutable up to $500. Most of it is fly by night companies, but if you happen upon something somewhat reputable, send them a ceast and desist notice and forward it to a state attorney, maybe you'll get lucky.

Hotmail sucks. I created an account for my wife. Didn't use if for 3 weeks. Went to her inbox and it was full of SPAM. 2mb worth...300 messages...wtf

Maybe she is surfing for pr0n

Dump your hotmail email addy and get one at either yahoo or excite.

RARELY do i get spam on either of those accts...

Get a new address and use something more difficult for the automated spam machine to guess. Instead of Phocas, phocas7852@hotmail.com is more resistant to spams. If you need to post your email on the net, it is good idea to use phocasSPAMSUCKS7852@hotmail.com and add a note at the end to remove the SPAMSUCKS.

There is not a whole lot you can do about porn sites based in Moscow, Russia.

I've been able to stop receiving Hotmail SPAM but it involves some risk.

Don't login and check your Hotmail (that includes logging into MSN Messenger) for at least 31 days so your account expires and gets deleted.
Wait 30 days and HOPE that someone else doesn't grab your e-mail address (big risk) then re-register, do not check anything where it asks for interest/magazines/poll stuff.

It worked for me but like I said there's a huge risk involved.

I get maybe 1 SPAM a month.

Create 1000 easy to guess Hotmail accounts, and forward all incoming mails to bill.gates@microsoft.com 😛

Step 1. Don't use Hotmail. Seriously, I have friends who used it exclusively for personal correspondence and still received Spam. Your email address is being sold.

Step 2. Don't use your email address to sign up for anything online, unless you want it to get spammed. Eventually, you will hit someone who doesn't think it's wrong to sell your address with a bunch of other folks, and once your list is out there, it will circulate among list resellers.

Step 3. Create a dummy account for spam, and use that exclusively for offers. Even better, use a filter/redirector like Spamgourmet to minimize the impact from stuff that you do get.

You're welcome. I was getting 30 JUNK e-mails a day and it was driving me up the wall. So after I let my Hotmail account expire all the e-mails were bouncing back to the SPAMMERs who assume it's no longer an active e-mail. I waited a total of 60 days (30 for your account to expire and 30 for the new SPAM to bounce back to the senders). Then started over from scratch and no more SPAM 😀

Lately I have taken to actually unsubscribing when I receive spam. I did not used to bother, based on the old logic that it would just verify my address for spam purveyors. I have found the overall amount of spam has really been slashed since I started doing this.

Free web based email. You can use any email program to get your mail as well. No ads, no spam (unless you get on a spam list yourself).

I've tried this, with the big companies that get your address then sell it to other companies that are more or less legit (EqualaMail and OptIn Mail come to mind), but it seems to be hit and miss. I never get the equalamail one to work for some reason.

I am seriously considering calling up my isp and having them delete my primary email account, as thats where 99% of the spam comes to. I'll fall back on another account, then a few months later, re-open my old account.

I have been using my RR mail account for 5 years now. Talk about getting spam... I get about 50 messages a day.

Is there a way to filter all of 1 domains email on Eudora??? I have been trying to filter the crap like 9802923@viagra.com but the author switches email addresses everyday to 9802924@viagra.com. So how do I filter viagra.com ? Is there an addon for Eudora to block spam?

Thanks
