What do I get a 2-year-old girl for her Christian baptism? I'm gonna be the godfather, and I have no clue.

isn't 2 years old a little young to be baptised? baptism is meaningless if she doesn't understand the point of it. and at 2 years old, I doubht she does. heck she prolly doesn't even know the concept of christianity yet. and before you're baptised don't you have to take classes and stuff?

It depends on your denomination. Catholics, for instance, baptize children young. Baptists, OTOH, do not baptize people until they are old enough to comprehend.
Various sects have their reasonings for baptizing when they do....

away from the people that are doing it to her.

she's an innocent child, no need for a baptism, not until she's reached the age of accountability.

He asked for a gift idea, not a sermon....

Funny how religion and comprehend are used in the same idea.

I was raised Lutheran and I was baptized as a baby (unfortunately). Then again i was forced to go through sunday school and confirmation too.

HAHA!!!

I say either a cross necklace (useless for a 2 yr old) or a savings bond? I dunno.

Wow, a lot of people here are really narrow-minded when it comes to religion.

Anyway, it's been a tradition in my family (and I think a lot of Italian families), to get a newly baptised kid some type of jewlery they can wear when they get older, with an inscription of the date they were baptised somewhere on it.

But cash for their future is always good as well.

Hope that helps.

Precious Moments figurine... savings bond... cross necklace.

A Veggie Tales movie?

Most gifts will be keepsakes, unless it is a party and you want to get something she can play with. Check out a Christian bookstore, there will be plenty of stuff.

A Bible so she can learn that child baptism isn't in there. :disgust:
