Depending on your receiver and soundcard, a male 1/8" minijack to stereo rca plugs coupled to a set of rca patch cables would do the trick, or if your receiver and soundcard support digital or coax input and output respectively, you could attach them using the appropriate cables.

If you got a SB 5.1 connect the output from your sound card to an external reciever which has the speakers hooked up to it using a Y cable.

your rig says you have a Asus A7N8X-deluxe. That has sound built in and it's very good. To get better you'd have to get a >$100 sound card like an M-audio.

For that price range, the Polk RM6000 for $299 would be better than the Sony. Obviously you'd get even better sound from one of the $699 polk systems.

Also in the under-$250 price range, a Pioneer from www.etronics.com is probably the best deal, though with crutchfield's cheap shipping you should compare the total, shipped price (etronics shipping costs much more).

Does the Asus board have an optical output like the NF7? If so the toslink cable is all he would need to tap into something like a sony Digital reciever. Just an idea.

Sounds good when watching movies. I hada cheap home theater system was less than $300. The surround effects sound better from it than the klipschs on the computer.

If you are running the PC to a home cinema receiver and decent speaker package then you will really thank yourself for using a good soundcard, especially one that supports digital outputs. Otherwise you are creating a system where one area is much weaker than its counterpart.
