What do I do with a digital tv box but no service?

What do I do with a digital tv box but no service? My dads friend got rid of his comcast digital tv and handed me the box as junk. Is thing worth anything to me or is it junk, what would happen if I plugged it in, would I atleast get my regular cable and maybe epg if im lucky?

Return the stolen box to the cable company. I doubt he actually owned it.

Hah, upon closer inspection I did find a sticker on there that says property of comcast. I could easily toss it in the trash, probably 10x easyer then calling them to return it - whats in it for me?

Your dad's friend is going to get slapped with a bill for that box, give it back to him.

Probably pointless as it's probably been deactivated since the guy cancelled his service, and both he and the person who buys it on eBay may get in trouble with Comcast.

I tryed it out, it seems to function like a simple tuner for my regular cable, no program info/data available though. I suppose its good as a clock, or cable tuner, but other then that its useless?
