Argentina might be different because they've defaulted so many times. I don't know who would have faith in Argentina currency. So that's why there is likely such huge difference between the official and black market exchange rate. Same in countries like Venezuela and Cuba. Most of the stable countries, the exchange rate between banks and money changers are not that drastic.

Everyone holds US dollar there and only exchange when needed. I still remember the days when you sell something in the morning and you cannot buy the same item from the supplier in the afternoon with the money you made in the morning.

I didn't realize people ate so late and stayed up all night in Buenos Aires. I usually eat early dinner around 6 pm and usually in bed by 10 pm. So dinner at midnight and partying til morning sounds crazy to me.

lol perfect timing. Enjoy the Coca Cola though. Tastes so much better than the weak ass North American versions.

5 grams of COCACOLA is $100

ok so, lissen, this is a hoot

last night on an all-channels TV broadcast, the argentinian president announced that

all foreigners who have arrived in the country within the last 14 days must self-quarantine, on pain of deportation

yup. thats me. i am now holed up in the house until the 20th which tbh is fine by me, i have a bottle of fernet branca and coca cola (actual coca cola) to make enough Fernandos to sate a stadium of thirsty argentinians, a box of milanesa (think german schnitzel, fried beef), 4 1-liter bottles of heineken, and a bag of ... uh.. stuff....

im gonna be fine. I'm having the time of my life. i just wish i had a chick to bang.

It was like that the two times I've been to Spain for work. Get dinner at 9/10 PM and the restaurants would be filling up. Some places wouldn't even open till 7 for dinner.

And when I was in Milan, as a side trip from a work-related thing in Switzerland last June, most places would open at 7 or 8 for dinner, and be totally booked with reservations from 9 PM onward. Fortunately, since I was by myself, and often the only person in a restaurant at 7, it was easy to get a seat.

J.F.CHR.

my 14 day quarantine was due to end tomorrow, so i could go sightseeing - tonight they ordered total lockdown until march 31 (by which time my joke of a holiday will be over).
they have ONE death in a nation of 40 million.

oh yeah i did get some meat from the carne asada guy, which wouldn't impress anyone from Texas, but if you are NOT from texas, then i'd say it's the best beef i've ever had.
