What do Christians believe happen to aborted babies' souls?

Serious question. I do know that Catholics believe they go to limbo like unbaptized babies, and from there can go to heaven... but what do other denominations believe?

Also, what is the basis for the belief that a baby has a soul at conception? And what is the basis for the belief among some (most?) non Christians that life starts at birth?

some believe that until a person is accountable for sin (knows right from wrong), it won't be held against them if they die before baptism

We don't know what happens to their souls. That's something Christians wrestle with and there are no straight answers to be found in the Bible. This Catholic idea of "limbo" (first I've heard of it) you mention is just something they made up with no Biblical basis apparently.

There is some verse in the Bible that could indicate that possibly those children with at least one Christian parent, who die before reaching the age of accountability, may end up in heaven.

classic belief was that the soul wouldn't go anywhere and would become a form of evil that's still present on earth, because the baby was never baptized and died was a liminal (boundary-crosser, being a liminal means you are in-between boundaries, such as physical boundaries or in-between stages of life), which is bad juju according to old Slavic belief. (this is what we have learned in my slavic course which deals with the roots of evil in society and the old belief in vampires, and their effect on modern views and pop-culture. interesting course.

those beliefs are still around in some societies.

Because Christians are instruments of Christ here on earth. They spread the truth. Any work done for Christ here on earth is rewarded in heaven. Any suffering endured on earth simply for being a Christian will be greatly rewarded in heaven.

Hmm...good question man. Say they go to heaven...then what? We have a millions of embryo's floating around? Nah...that can't be right. Do we have immature, undeveloped souls floating around? Nah...that makes no sense either. Does the soul get reincarnated in someway? That could be somewhat feasible...but still doesn't hold much weight.

I'm guessing if heaven does exist, it doesn't fit into the above envisioning of heaven which is possibly based on too many cartoons as a kid. A soul would be a soul and not a body.
