What do CHEAP(frugal) people have no problem spending money on ???

If you have to even consider the tip percentage, then you aren't cheap or frugal. That is because a cheap/frugal person would never eat at a restaurant that requires tips.

.

This is just being silly.
So you save all this money and you don't eat out at times ??
You can be frugal and enjoy life.

Here is what frugal means to me. When I want to purchase something, I don't need to buy the cheapest thing possible, but I want to feel like I got a good deal. For instance when buying a TV, I could just go to costco and pick one up. But instead I spend weeks or months researching and looking at reviews. I want to get the best quality for the best price. I want to find that happy medium. I'm going to buy last years top of the line TV that's just about as good as this years but 35% off.

But as for what I spend money on without thinking about it, gas for my car. I could drive around looking for the cheapest gas by 5 cents, or I could just stop at the next gas station. I would rather worry about other things than saving 25 cents.

You can, but just to back up what I said, see Vi_Edit's quote from above:
The properties we can stay at are basically fully furnished apartments so I can hit a walmart the first day and feed the kids easily without needing to go out to eat.
Almost all of my in-laws are like that. Ask one time out of a hundred to go to a decent restaurant and all you'll get is an evening full of complaints such as:
"We could have gone to McDonalds for less",
"This place sucks, the only good restaurants are dives",
"They expect you to pay $3 for an appetizer!",
"Oh, the bread is free! Can I get 5 baskets of bread and a water?",
"How can you possibly eat at a rip off like this?",
"This place is way over priced",
etc, for hours on end nothing but complaints.

I had to lol at all of this.

I wouldn't associate with paupers of that sort!

Vacations is where I splurge the most. Although I don't consider myself "frugal", more a smart/educated shopper, I try to find a deal but don't really waiver on what I want to be cheap.

Luckily that is one thing my family is good about. We don't get together often, so when we do we tend to go someplace nice. The only complaining done is that someone always tries to pay the whole bill themselves and we all end up argying over who gets to pay. Happens every single time. But now I'm old enough that I get to join in the fight! Last time I got to cover $50 of it.

The end result is always that people throw money on the table and say "FINE then the waitress is getting an awesome tip!" And she always does.

I'm frugal on vacations - I never stay on the beach side of the street. Why on Earth would I? You will not find us in our room, except between the hous of 11pm, or later, and about 8am. More than half of our vacations - about 21/2 to 3 weeks a year, are spent with our popup camper. King sized bed, fridge, A/C, toilet, shower, sink, interior and extetior stove... who needs more than that? That's only about $150 per week, which means I have a lot more money to spend on the meaningful things and activities.

Computer crap....although not nearly as bad as I used to be.

Slowing down on everything over the last couple of years. Wife seems to have picked up the pace lately though.

Still spend too much on my kids. Say that I'm not going to do it and yet end up doing it anyway.

Used to buy cars (every other year) but finally learned that's a money pit and stopped. Have had my current car for last 12+ years.

I feel like I'm frugal and cheap but I look at what I buy (we buy) and realize that I'm not as cheap as I (we) need to be, lol! 😛

-cars, not luxury mind you but I'll get the leather seats and other goodies.
-electronics, like Dullard said, I look for value. Anything above $50, I spend about a week reading about it online and checking out reviews.
-hosting. If we have people coming over, I'll provide a good experience.

1) Food or eating out. I will pay top dollars for a good meal.
2) Items for my wife or my daughter. If they want it, I will buy it.
3) Vacations. International summer vacations are expensive.

Fuck NO. I'm super bad at this.
I have 5 brothers and sisters. Only 1 make less than myself.
Everytime we get together and go eat, I never ever pull my wallet out. Nope, never done it once.
I've done when its just 1 or 2 siblings but not the whole gang. Hell NO !!

With #1 or #2 on the list, I don't know if you can considered yourself frugal.

And, you'd stop getting invited if I were any of those siblings. If you are not even willing to offer to pay, you aren't worthy of a seat at the table. Don't be a greedy asshole.

Greedy assholes are always the people who become CEO's. ()🙂

If you think people who lack that ability to pretend to want to pay make it to the top, you underestimate true CEOs.

I suppose I should have said something about correlation and causation.

All CEO's are greedy assholes but not all greedy assholes are (or can become) CEO's! :hmm:

:awe:

It's just what we do. We all believe in paying our own way and giving to others. Sounds great in theory until you get 20 people together who all think alike. You should see the battles that happen over who gets to hold the door.

I am 19 years old and I make over $100,000. I finished college in 1 year and bought a house that's quadrupled in value. Now I am married to a super model wife. All of this is my own doing and getting no help from anyone else. Because I did all these things, everyone else should be able to do them too. And if you can't achieve this, its because you're lazy.

Pics of wife? :colbert:

Only over $100k at 19? Must be an internship.

For the past couple of months, I've been ordering delivery once a week or so. Gotta stop though, save the cash. Previously, I would get some food delivered once, maybe twice a month. I would say fast-food once a week or so is my usual extra expenditure, save for the past couple of months where I've just wasted some extra dough on delivery.

I'm pretty cheap generally, but that's because I don't have a ton of money to throw around.

Yeah I decided to live modestly and take a 20 hour per week job rather than be a total sucker and work long hours for more money. I invest about 98% of my earnings and still have more than enough money for any luxury good I want because this is the Internet and I can lie and say whatever I want and it's important that everyone see how successful I am.

To hear the ocean waves crashing and awesome balcony sex later at night 😛

As for a lot of my choices, many of them are just cost/benefit. I *could* go out to eat at a restaurant with two horrifically picky kids ages 3 and 7 and spend $5.99 for a kids meal they'll thumb their nose at and a $3 glass of milk they'll drink half of, plus put up with the non-stop anxiety of trying to keep a majorly disruptive ADHD kid under control.

Or just go to Walmart and make PB&J for a couple bucks for the whole week, $2.50 for a gallon of milk for the week, and order awesome thai food to be delivered to the room once the kids crash for the night. 🙂

When we vacation we typically stock up on yogurt and inexpensive, easy things for breakfasts and lunches that we can also pack on the go and not pay theme park extortion rates for food and snacks. Then we'll splurge a bit more at dinner time and do something a bit nicer (even if it is delivery/carry out). My kids are a pain in the ass at meal times and no amount of effort on our end has ever gotten them to eat better/more types of things.

Going out to eat just isn't worth the cost and misery.
