What do Boogers Smell Like?

OK, it's a bit juvenile and disgusting, but bear with me... does anyone ever wonder what boogers smell like?

I mean, they are already in your nose, which means that everything you smell has already had the "booger smell" mixed in with it. So would that also mean when you smell "nothing", that's really just a baseline for what your boogers smell like. Is it even possible to truly smell nothing, the absence of all particles whatsoever?

Discuss.

It's what ever dirt and debris you've breathed in. The whole point of creating boogers is to help trap crud so it won't make it to your lungs.

In the past I have been able to just barely justify the time I spend reading this forum, albeit using arguments that approach irrationality. Thank you for making it even harder.

I thought they were created for flicking at girls.

OP, I can send you some of mine for testing.

Depends which color we are talking about. The brown ones taste/smell different from the yellows, reds, greens etc... The truly blessed produce plaid colored boogers which are in short supply and fetch a high price on world markets.

Yeah, this thread has got to be some kind of record low for ATOT. What makes it even worse is the people talking about how they taste! That, ladies and gentlemen, is disgusting. :colbert:

While the thought is appreciated, I must respectfully decline on the basis that it would just introduce another as-yet unexplored variable into the situation, namely whether or not boogers from different people smell differently (if in fact they do indeed have a smell); and that's just on an individual level, nevermind the distinctions that could be made as to gender and racial composition.

There are probably millions of dollars to be gotten via some sort of government grant for this research.

Believe me, ATOT will find a way to leave this particular thread in the dust as far as record lows.

A new investment scam, the Booger Commodity Exchange. Taking suggestions for a better name.

Save boogers. Pack into ball. Deep fry. Enjoy.

The fresh ones can also be used as rubber cement.

Not just no, but hell no. Not even when I was little. I've never understood why somebody would pull a booger out of their nose, look at it, and think to themselves, "that looks yummy". o_O

Edit: I can't even stand the idea of a loogy. People hocking one up sound so disgusting, and the few times I've been so stopped up that I sniffed and accidentally ended up with snot running down the back of my throat, it turned my stomach. I nearly threw up every time it happened.

They say those that eat their own enhance their immune systems. Something about giving your immune system a workout with big dose of bacteria/contaminants that were filtered from the air.

How else are you supposed to win the distance portion of loogie contests? They only go far when you make them right. Those guys with pneumonia or bronchial infections dont harvest from the nose but rather mine it from deep within the chest. Thats the right kind of cohesive snot that glues itself together and makes a good projectile. When one of these guys shows up, he usually wins the contest

You are a massive pussy.

There is might be some good to eating boogers, such as toughening your immune system.

Doesn't this violate our prohibition on discussion of bodily fluids?

Anyway, I suspect that machine olfaction holds your answer.

You could find a high quality forum but it's likely to be sparse. So it may not have enough activity for your tastes.

And they smell like a greasy ball of dust perhaps?

It depends. If you're healthy boogers are just a mix of dust and mucus, so depending on where you have inhaled dust your boogers will smell like that. But generally speaking I don't think most dust creates a strong odor.

Now if your nose is filled with yellow slime, then it will smell of dying bacteria. :)
