What do all those gadgets at the border do?

The crossover into the US has a shitload of gadgets. I think I counted 14 different camera's/sensors last time, not to mention all the pillars that look like some kind of detectors/scanners. Also there seems to be an instrument underneath.

I always laugh because there's so much stuff cluttered when you cross over to the US but when you're coming back into Canada they just want to know if you bought anything, there's nothing there lol.

Anyone know what they have there and what it's for?

Only someone who was planning on attempting to defeat the US Border Security Systems would want to know what those cameras and sensors do. You have been reported to the appropriate personnel in the Department of Homeland Security.

😉 😛

Some of em are x-rays to quickly scan vehicles for people, I imagine they have some sort of explosives sniffer/detector, but most are to stop illegal immigration. 🙂laugh🙂

Weird.

When I first read the subject, I thought you were talking about gadgets at the On The Border restaurant... to which, I would have responded "the thing that makes the tortillas, of course."

Radiation, particle sniffers , thermal cameras.

They can't use x-rays without consent.

Still not as good as a well trained dog.

Haha dude, I smoked a Cuban on your soil last night! I also stuck the wrapper with my spit on the Niagara Falls railing US side. Take that!

I've always had weird encounters with the Canadian side and normal encounters with the US side. I'm assuming that they change their tactics based on the country of your passport.

The Canadian side sometimes has one person questioning you with ridiculous and stupid questions (sometimes borderline racist - I'm of South Asian descent) while another person stares at you studying your reactions. It's Canada's low-tech detector.

The Canadian side is bad I guess for both US and Canadian citizens. I have a tougher time getting back into Canada then getting into the US.
