What disorders/diseases can cause dementia in the elderly?

I?m writing a short film where one elderly character is reasonably healthy yet still has delusions of her dead husband being alive, etc. Is this typical or atypical of Alzheimer?s? Is there another condition that this is more similar to? One scene features her talking to her son and forgetting about something just a brief moment later ? I know that this can be generically labeled ?senility? but I?d like to have a specific condition in mind.. Thanks!

I can't confirm this with an article or anything, but I remember reading something a while ago that linked aersol deodorant with Alzheimer's disease. It had something to do with aluminum in the deodorant being absorbed by the bloodstream.
