2 is enough, 3 is better.

EDIT: oh yea, with $50 coupon a Canon A40 is right within your reach!

What about a canon S200 or nikon coolpix 2600?

The a40 is a great camera but its a lil big for my tastes. The S200 can record sound and has a metal case and is smaller. The nikon has the rotating lens, lots of zoom, and is also small. They come with lithium batteries and a charger.

EDIT: I NEVER EVER expected the Sony P9 suggestion from PAB, super ferengi. For the record though, I have the Sony P7 and its a great camera. Still, outa his price range. Hmm, the Sony P2 isn't that much out of his price range...

What about higher end camera's?
Powershot G2 any good?
I've noticed that with a lot of camera's there is lag between shots .. it'd be nice to have a camera that could take series shots quickly. I'm dissapointed in the optical zoom of most camera's though.

Better to get the Fuji 2600 instead of the 2650. The 2650 uses Fuji's new storage method, which is more expensive than CF or SM cards, also the 2650 comes with alkalines instead of the NiMH batteries and charger that the 2600 comes with. Overall, I think that the 2600 (identical to the 2650 aside from the storage medium) is a better deal because of the cheaper storage media and the included NiMH batteries and charger.

I second the 2650. It uses the new xD format memory card, which uses less power from the camera and in the short future will be available in capacities up to 8GB. It is also faster than smart media.

Can you find a 2600 for less than 179 ? (besides the target deal, i think theyre all sold out) I agree that the 2600 is a better cam but the when it comes to $ i dont know.

I bought the A40 the other day, had a tough time deciding between the FinePix and A40 ...
