i need a optical cord to hook my reciever to my ps2 but not sure what type of optical it is.. is mini optical much smaller?

thanks.

Toslink is optical, don't know what mini optical is. If you are asking the difference between Toslink and normal RCA plugs, I say It really dosen't matter. Except maybe the cool factor of using Toslink, but in quality you should't really notice any. Toslink is more expensive and easy to break, while RCA are cheap and much much stronger.

Well from my experience with minidiscs, TOS was the square type optical plug and mini was the normal 3.5" plug. But you can get an adapter for making either one into the other

If you are plugging a receiver to PS2, you need a TOS-TOS cable. Miniplugs are usually for portables.
