What difference would it make if Earthly humans ceased to exist? The planets would continue their journey around the Sun. The universe would continue to expand until, like a rubber band, it would snap back. After our demise nothing would change.
Is it so important to gasp for one more breath of air?
The end is inevitable, whether it is 100 years, 1000 years or 10,000 years. Mankind is tied to Earth.
Even it if was possible to terraform and colonize Mars, the ultimate result would only be conflict between the two planets.
If inter-stellar travel was somehow possible it is likely that we would find other intelligent beings. The result would be conflict.
Just a rumination.
