My biggest fear, getting sick while on vacation or a planned recreational sport that needs days off from work.
Yeah it really sucked. I could feel I was getting sick on the Tuesday before we left (left on a Thursday) and on both Tuesday and Wednesday I opted not to go to the gym after work to just let myself relax and hopefully get better. Then our flight on Thursday we had to leave our house at like 3:30am so I barely got any sleep that night too. I slept a little on the leg to Florida for like 45 mins but that was it. Then later that day when we got there I was just exhausted and not really hungry and could tell something was wrong.
In hindsight I probably shouldn't have even dove the first day but I'm glad I at least got that in. I was going back/forth whether or not I should do the dives and then right before when we started to gear up, adrenaline took over and I felt pretty much fine. Even though the water was 82 degrees it's probably a good thing I had a wetsuit on. One dive that was like 50 minutes long I started to get a little chilly near the end, but it felt like that "sick" chilly.
As soon as I got back to the room around 6:30pm I couldn't eat and started to feel worse and worse then crashed at like 8:30pm. I couldnt really sleep well all night and decided to go to a health clinic when they opened at 9am. I was put on 3 prescriptions and also ear drops because my ear drums were red. The doctor told me that she recommended not to dive at all on the trip even if I felt better in a day or so, due to my ears.
I at least had 2 days to relax and hang on the beach and stuff on Sunday and Monday. I started to feel better as soon as I got up on Sunday. It was also nice to not drink much on a vacation, which I typically do lol. My appetite came back as well so I got to eat 2 great dinners too.
Oh well, I'm planning on either going back in 3 weeks or going in March to complete it and get my AOW. Hopefully I am healthy lol.
