What Did You Think of Half Life 2? The Ending?

Hello all:

I finally got around to beating Half Life 2 and although it was a great game as a whole I have to say that I am thouroughly disappointed in the ending. Am I the only one who feels this way?

I played on the hardest difficutly level to make it more challenging but the ending sequence wasn't all that hard and it ends abruptly, too abruptly. I mean where is the victory scene on the streets showing how the people are liberated from their oppression, what happens to everyone? I guess I am old fashioned and would like one of those Hollywood endings or at least another mission to try and escape or something as the Citadel collapses.

Once again I am not bashing the game as it was very fun and fantastic to look at, but the ending was to say the least lacking.

I loved it. Greatest PC game I've ever played. The ending sucked but it just made the transition into HL3 easier, so I don't blame them.

I think the problem with the ending was: "Open-Ended Cliffhanger" ala Halo 2. The ending leaves WAY to many questions unaswered, and the abysmal replies from the G-Man don't help.

Well since i know that a Half Life 3 is coming out i think it was an excellent way to keep people into the series. Had i not known this little tid bit and i had i thought everything ended right there, then i would say it sucked.

I had lots of fun with the game, but I despise the ending. Valve had this to say about the rumors of an expansion: 'Despite the rumors, Valve has not announced any plans for an HL2 expansion'
Sounds pretty ambiguous to me.

I think they didn't finish it, we were clamoring to get it so they just used one of the lesser "boses" maybe.

Thats my feeling. Because I do things like that, I recognise it when I see it.
