Had party at our house after wedding. We had to open all the envelopes to bail out a guest who got DUI. ($145)
Remembering the day......Priceless!

That is golden!!! LOL!

haha, that's hilarious

30k 70-80 people
6k honeymon Antigua, Barbados, US Virgin Islands and San Juan. We got out of PR right before the govt. shut down.
8k rings

So we got it all done for about $41,500, this was 3 weeks ago.

We paid for all but $2500 of it.

Lets see our current totals look like:
$5,500:Ceremony, Reception, Cake, etc.

$2,400:6 Day Honeymoon, 4 days in Puerto Vallarta, 2 days in Vegas

Still haven't picked out our wedding bands yet so the total cost may go up a little

Forgot to add approx 120 people currently still waiting for RSVPs to come back.

There's enough booty for e'ryone, me hearties! Di'nae cost us anythin'. Had th' weddin' at th' court and me matey is in a band and I called th' bar owner the ornery cuss were bein' playin' at and set aside th' front part o' th' bar fer us and our guest free o' charge. It were bein' a great time.

Well we think we've found our place and it looks like it'll be about $5,000 or less for everything.

Thanks for all the input!

Sometimes I think what's more important....to live in utter misery and debt after wedding or save that big money (20-35k) and invest it in stock market for your future?

😕

Around $3000 for the wedding & honeymoon...5 days at a Sandals resort and got married at the resort.

Then around another $500 total for three seperate receptions of friends and family at our home, my parents home, and the in-laws home.

1. Take wedding $$$ from future father-in-law
2. Spread money out on bed
3. Have sex with future wife
4. Take pictures
5. Send pictures to future father-in-law with note saying there's a new sheriff in town
6. ...
7. PROFIT

Yeah.. you go ahead and do that. Don't forget to write from the hospital.

Don't remember exactly, but in that $20+K range for ~100 guests. NYC area, duh. Paid for it ourselves. Those saying "don't get the big wedding, do a nice honeymoon instead", whatever. We did both! 😀

You shouldn't put down those who don't have much money to work with and kind of have to put more money into one than the other.

my friend recently had a wedding, instead of gifts they wanted people to help pay for the honeymoon. i thought that was super tacky.

$13k reception included 10 course meal for 230 guests + beer/wine
$6k for 10 days romp all inclusive in st. thomas and st. john
got $17k in cash gifts so all in all $2k out of pocket + $10k for the ring - not too shabby

Because anyone who spent a lot had no way of affording it?

Different people have different priorities. If I can afford something after I put money into long term investments I have no problem doing so. I'm not going to sock every cent away so when I'm 65 I can look back on all the things I could have done.

Choices, choices. There is another option though for some of us, pay cash for all of it. 🙂
