Nothing! I don't... have a significant other.

My mother got me Reeses though. That counts for something. Right? 🙁

Nothing. We no longer support national Hallmark Card Day and the hype surrounding it. If we want a date date we do it any other time we want to and not fight the crowds hyping a single day.

Plus our anniversary is a month later and I'd rather get something nicer for that. 🙂

Same thing I get her every year for Valentine's day: Nothing. There are 364 other days of the year when a gift means, "I love you." But on February 14, a gift says, "I got this for you because marketing hype says I have to."

Think of all the women who got a dozen roses simply because their husband has a secretary who takes care of stuff like that for them. Gifts on Valentine's day are meaningless.

I did cook dinner for her though - we each had two lobster tails & a ribeye. It was a special at the grocery store - can't turn down 2 ribeyes and 2 lobster tails for $26. The packages of lobster tails that size are usually around that price by themselves, so it was like free ribeyes with the purchase of lobster tails. Bought two packages.

Wife always says I don't have to get her anything, but I bought her some flowers anyways.
Kept getting emails from an online flower shop that I order from previously, but once I found out they wanted to charge an extra $20 for delivery, and an extra $5 for Sunday delivery, I closed the browser and started looking locally. Got another email from them that said if I complete my order then they'd deliver for free. So I went to check the website out again, and the price of the flowers I was just looking at were about $10 higher than 20 minutes before that lol.
I just went to jewel instead and got some for half the price.

We went to a wedding on Saturday night, so I stole a bunch of flowers and said she can have them tomorrow.

Otherwise, we only contributed to the Hallmark made holiday by buying cards.

Oh, she dropped her hair dryer last night, so she is buying herself a new one today.

I was at my sons' baseball practice and got a text from my wife

Her: "Do you send me flowers for Valentines day? Some just arrived."
Me: "Ha!"
Her: "I didn't think so. You know I'd rather get a dozen doughnuts as a treat than a dozen flowers!"
Me: "True. But then who sent the flowers?"
Her; "No clue."

(ended up being her friend who thought she would like them)

i would take her out for dinner at burger king. Or maybe just buy her a hotdog from a street cart vendor. Much more economical.

So after Christmas I found a dress she had really wanted, but decided not to buy due to price on a deep clearance discount. I added some nice lingerie and a shrug, and last week snuck a few pieces of jewelry out for cleaning. I wrapped those up in a box.

Then to make it a surprise I setup a babysitter and reservations at a nice restaurant for Friday night. I left the box with a single rose and a handwritten note that she needed to be ready at 6:30 (among some other more intimate things...)

My wife and I haven't gotten anything for each other on Valentines Day for 20 years.

However, this year I got her the cliché gift of roses, chocolates, and a card. She loved the surprise.

It'll be another 20 years or so before that happens again, if I live that long.
