What is their reasoning behind that?

Same here

i dunno. When I want something, I usually just ask for it. I'm not as spoiled as that sounds though... when I was young, my parents usually said no to things I wanted, like Nintendo's and stuff. So now I rarely ask for anything, so when I do ask for something they usually oblige.

We'll probably go with some cash. MP3 players are on the expensive side for good ones X 2 teens = $$$'s

Got my son tonight that " Half-Life 2: Raising the Bar " book. Going get him WOW collectors edition game as well. probably add $100 to that as well.

Now the daughter .... hmm were to begin .... maybe let the wife handle that one .... + $100 for her as well.

Still up for your experience and thoughts....Thanks.

They gave me a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera when I got my license (a month after my bday) and like $100 on my actual bday.

I'd reccomend going to kb toys and buying the kid a 1:18 scale diecast car of his dreams... if you want to make it really interesting, print up all of the registration forms from your state's DOT and fake him out into thinking you got him the car somehow.

I got nothing, but I'm with this guy. The kids will wet themselves and then cry when you crack out the diecasts.

I got the old Camry.

If you've got twins... cars could get kind of expensive. You could give them the family car to share and spoil yourself with whatever catches your fancy...

You won't *really* be giving them the car so much as giving them preferential use to it.

Or take them out for their permits, and enroll them in a driver's ed program. If your state allows kids to drive earlier provided they complete driver's ed, they'll see the value in the class. Otherwise tell them it'll reduce their insurance fees.

They have their permits. They will be going to a Drivers ED this summer. We are holding off on letting them get their Drivers license till around June. They will get a small break on the insurance when Drivers ED is completed.

For them to get their Drivers License, 1.) they have to complete the Drivers ED program / 2.) They have to have a job and they will pay their own insurance cost. This is not a State requirement but it's " the Parents ( us ) " requirement .. our rules. ;)
