To hell carrying around some powdered sugar if you see him again, fill a small baggie with Boraxo.

If you happened to notice two tin cans near him he probably just wanted some string to make a phone to talk to his other hommie across the alley.

If you look like a dealer then maybe he wanted some drugs.

If you were smoking, maybe he wanted a puff.

Or maybe he wanted what you gave him, a line of BS.

Sounds like a local colloqualism. Heh, bums used to ask me for money, but when one made a very feeble attempt to rob me I stopped giving them anything. There was this one rather large homeless guy that set up shop in front of the door to the gas station. I think he was foreign, couldn't speak much English, but his line was more "give me money". He actually ran from me, and I didn't say a word or make any threatening actions. I think he figured I'd call the cops, it was a bit extreme. When homeless people attack.

I'm glad you made out ok with the guy that tried to rob you.

LOL

When I first moved to Florida, a lot of people came up to borrow money, just a mid-Western friendliness thing. Now the only people I don't know who ask for money are the phone solicitors.

Maybe he meant to say "yo, you got a dime?" or "yo, you got da time" But you heard it as "line".

He wants blow, nose candy, powder, snow, cocaine, etc etc

i think this is what he meant

a line of coke or powder something

maybe i'll empty a bunch of pixi sticks into a sandwich bag and carry it around in case i see him again..

Make sure to add a little cayenne pepper to the mix.
