On Thursday, March 20th, I landed awkwardly playing basketball which caused some pain in my right calf and hammy. It felt better by the weekend.

On Sunday, March 23rd, while playing softball, my calf became very painful while running out an infield hit.

I rested the leg, with self-massage that week. The leg felt much better by Tuesday and seemed almost 100% by Friday.

On Sunday, March 30th, while playing softball, while running to first, my calf again became really painful. The pain was so bad, I could barely put weight in the leg (though crouching to play catcher actually felt good).

Last night, April 1st (no foolin'), all of a sudden, my right ankle swelled up. It was not painful or even uncomfortable, just freaky looking. It was not discolored. My calf was still very painful.

This morning, April 2nd, the ankle swelling was gone, but my calf still hurts. It seems to me that my recovery is behind last week. It swelled again on the evening of the 2nd.

The calf pain is mostly focused on the interior side of the calf (i.e. kinda between my legs)

So, what does that sound like to you?

Thank you.

BTW, I have taken a leave from basketball and softball until this resolves. My wife may request a permanent retirement ;)

BTW2, I am a 40-year-old male.

Thanks again.

Cliffs:

1. Hurt leg;
2. WTF is it???

I went to the doctor today. He believes it is a calf muscle tear.

He sent me for an ultrasound to make sure I did not have a blood clot. The ultrasound was negative.

He put me on an anti-inflammatory med for the swelling.

All seems well.

You tore your calf, I did the same thing. I was trainging for the PF Chang marathon, I fell dislocated my ankle, spained my ankle and tore my calf muscle it took over three months for the calf to heal.

I did'nt go to the DR, I popped my ankle back in and iced it, I have a sit down job so my foot and ankle turned black and blue, I am back to running three times a week and I can still feel where I tore my calf. I am 55 now so you don't heal as fast.

There is also a small, stablizer-type muscle just below the calf that I have torn before. I also injured it playing basketball (i'm 32 incidentally). The enforced rest allowed it to completely heal, and now I'm OK. However, it does seem to get tweaked now and again. When I'm home, I'll have a look at the name of what I had to send you.

Funny you should mention that. The ultrasound tech had to squeeze my leg a few times to check the blood flow, causing a bit of pain. Since then, the area below the bulky part has been painful.
