What dialect of English would you consider to be the one with the least amount of accent?

Northeast coast (not Boston / NYC). I'm not being biased either; it's the accent you most often hear on the news wherever you are. Midwest is very close, but not quite the same, too much "ou" in "about" for me to consider neutral. West coast is closer than midwest but still not quite there either.

It's really disconcerting if you live in central Virginia and you listen to the news casters who sound like Brokaw, Rather, etc, because the accent is completely different from the southern accent people who actually live there use. With the news people around the DC Metro area, you don't even think twice about it because the locals talk like that too.

We have the "Donkey Accent". Whenever swearing, we heavily accentuate the first half of the word.

Eg: "BULL-sh1t!"

Nah, I've heard it before. I don't think many people say it that way around here, though.

I've heard Midwest US. The problem is all of those people buying "soda" and pushing shopping "buggies" ;)

British English is the only English without an accent.

All others are bastardised versions of English and therefore = accent.

there are many variations of english accents too.

Sorry, but the various dialects within the country can be radically different.

Midwestern American English is the most 'standard' version of english today -- it has the most in common with the most dialects.

Neither American or Canadian, we are the ones with the accect! It's the Brits who do not have an accecnt!
