When I run out of underwear/socks. About a week currently.

I bought about a month and a half supply of socks, so I can pretty much wash a full load of nothing but that. Saves me time and money in the long run.

I drop my laundry off at the cleaners every two weeks, but if I'm going to my parents house soon anyways, I might push it back a week to do it for free at their house (though the cleaners do an infinitely better job)

When my old apartment had a proper washer and dryer, it was determined by when I needed clothes.

With my new, shitty apartment and the tiny washer/dryer, its determined by having a full load, which is often about 5 days worth of clothes.

Anything more and it wont get clean.

~ditto - 30 days of identical socks so I don't have to fuck with sorting them. Of course, there are some dress socks also but they don't get used much.

Like others, whenever I run out of whatever it is I need (underwear/dress clothing for going out/work clothing/etc.) .. usually, I can probably do a month or so without running out of clothing or reusing much. I just hate doing laundry at my building because it's 1.25 a wash, 1.25 to dry.. so 2.50 just to do 1 load of washing/drying.

when people start commenting on how bad my clothes smell...or when I run out of socks, undies, or undershirts...which is about every 2 1/2 weeks

Plus there are fewer of the dress socks in my case, so it isn't hard to sort them. Since they are darker colors, so they don't go in with the whites.

I also make sure to get identical socks to avoid sorting. My fiancee says this is another one of my bachelor laundry techniques.

When I start wearing clothes found in the bottom of the drawer that I am embrassed to be seen wearing in public.

But at least fresh ugly clothes is better than stinkin' clothes.

I usually do a load of colors once a week. Whites usually ever 2 weeks....(when I run out of clean socks)

So....the hamper being full or when I run out of socks.
