Looking for one of those programs that puts a clock and the weather on my desktop.

I tried Google Desktop, but I couldn't customize it quite the way I wanted, and it was using like 30+megs of memory.

I'm also using Objectdock, but the calendar/weather feature on it isn't too useful.

I've heard some good things about Yahoo Widgets, haven't used it myself though.

Google Desktop was fine until 1) it really did take up a lot of memory for just a clock and weather widget, 2) memory leaks and would crash 1-2 times a day for no reason, 3) often the configurations I setup wouldn't "stick" and I'd have to reset them every couple of weeks.

I think it was just my personal bad experience as other users I know of don't have the problem(except with the memory being too much).

I'm giving yahoo widgets a shot right now. It looks pretty good. Even though it also uses a lot of memory, it's basically what I wanted. (at least I've got 2 more gigs of ram coming in the mail ;))

I have been using Yahoo widgets (Konfabulator) for years now. It's very stable, and I'm a big fan. I wouldn't call its memory usage a problem in today's machines, but it isn't exactly lean and mean. It runs each widget in a separate process, and right now on my box with four full-time widgets it is using about 55 megs.

ok great, I can't delete the Widgets setup app. Windows keeps giving me the error that it is being used by another program. I tried closing Widgets, but it didn't make a difference.

Did anyone else have this problem?

I've been using one called Desktop Sidebar for awhile now. Rather liking it and it doesnt use a lot of memory. you can find it at http://www.desktopsidebar.com/

There's quite a few plugins for it to do whatever you want. Right now i have the RSS feed (with google and cnn news feeds) a notes thing, recycle bin plugin, weather, and a performance plugin (as well as system uptime plugin) and it is only using 10 megs max. Right now its going form 6-7megs. (if your curious it is also using about 50megs of VM)
