I am interested in finding the best benefit giving card. I use the Air Miles Card. However, my friends have 2% back for gas, etc...

What do you have and why?

One emergency use Visa card. 6.92% variable interest. Only need one card because I save and pay cash for everything I can (or maybe put it under the mortgage to eek out a little more of a tax shelter when I can).;)

Amex Blue Cash = almost not using it but love it for the fact that it extends a year warranty.
AAA Visa = 5% Cash back for Gas
Citi Mastercard = Don't even know why I'm keeping this
Nationalcity Check card = ATM
Amazon Visa = Gather points and get GC.

Dad gave me a Citibank Visa for emergency purposes. :D

AmEx Blue for Students: I wanted to be able to use a credit card at Costco.
Bank of America Student Visa: My first card. I have a checking account with BofA.
Chase Platinum Student Mastercard: I wanted a third card and I didn't have a Mastercard.

I use a Visa card through my credit union and a Discover card, neither of which offer many benefits. I have been tempted to get an Alaska Airlines Mileage Card for a while, but I don't want to get yet another credit card just yet. Plus the yearly fee seemed a bit much.

I dunno, maybe the mileage is worth it.

NickelTitanium,

I'm not going to list all the credit cards I have because that's privelaged information.

However the three best non-airline miles cc's IMHO are:

1) MBNA AAA
$0 annual fee
2.9% introductory balance transfer rate for 6 months
VISA card benefits (if it qualifies)
5% rebate on all gas purchases
MBNA's ONE TIME USE CC's

2) Chase Perfect Card
$0 annual fee assuming you make 9 or more purchases a year
0% introductory balance transfer rate
VISA card benefits including warranty manager, I buy all my computer/electronics with this cc.
6% on gas purchases within first 90 days
3% on gas purchases after first 90 days
1% rebate on ALL non-gas purchases credited to your statement every month, very nice!

3) Amex CostCo or Starwood cc.
Too lazy to type anymore, do your own damn research :p

FW has an excellent Finance Forum with great threads such as Best credit card rewards.

The Air Miles program is ok, but the fact they keep jacking the points up is the fact I don't like. I mean take the movie ticket for example, it doesn't matter which country you live in, they just keep jacking the points up. On the other hand, other credit card companies haven't jack their points up, because it depends on the price you can buy with. Others will just deal with pain old money. so if the actual movie ticket price goes up, so does the points needed to get the ticket.

BTW, my credit card I'm using is President's Choice Financial MasterCard (www.pcmastercard.ca) which is a Canadian company here.
